I Used to Choose Wine by the Label—And Why That Was Exactly Where I Needed to Start

I used to choose wine based purely on the label.

If the bottle was beautiful, the colors felt elegant, or the design caught my eye—it was coming home with me.

No research. No strategy. No second-guessing. Just instinct.

Sometimes it was a minimalist label with soft, neutral tones.
Other times it was bold, artistic, and impossible to ignore.

Either way, if it spoke to me—I chose it.

And you know what?

That phase mattered more than I realized at the time.

Because curiosity doesn’t always begin with knowledge.
Sometimes, it begins with what draws you in—

A feeling.
A moment.
A sense of connection before you even understand why.

For me, it started with the label.

But what I didn’t realize then was that I was already learning. Just in a different way.

I was learning what I was naturally drawn to.
I was building awareness—taste by taste, bottle by bottle.
I was creating experiences, even if I couldn’t yet explain them.

And slowly, almost without noticing, that curiosity evolved.

I started lingering a little longer in wine shops. Reading the back labels. Asking quiet questions. Listening more closely during tastings. Noticing how a wine felt—not just how it tasted, but how it paired with a meal, a moment, a conversation.

I began to understand regions. Varietals. Balance. Texture.

But more than that, I began to understand experience.

Wine isn’t just about what’s in the glass—it’s about where you are, who you’re with, and how everything comes together.

My palate evolved.
My appreciation deepened.
And what once started as a visual choice became something much more meaningful.

That evolution is what eventually led to the creation of Wine Time Travels.

Because while I still believe beauty matters—because it does—it’s now paired with intention.

With thoughtfully curated experiences that go beyond the surface.
With destinations that feel as good as they look.
With moments designed to be savored, not rushed.

Because true luxury isn’t about knowing everything.

It’s about feeling connected.
It’s about being present.
It’s about allowing yourself to grow into something, rather than expecting yourself to already be there.

You don’t need to be an expert to appreciate fine wine.

You don’t need to understand every note or nuance.

You simply need to be open.

Open to trying.
Open to learning.
Open to discovering what resonates with you.

I started with the label.

And honestly? I still smile when a beautiful bottle catches my eye.

Because even now, after everything I’ve learned… that sense of curiosity hasn’t gone anywhere.

It’s just grown with me.

And maybe that’s the most beautiful part of all.
